We've been past the point of help since early April

To the six or so people who are still reading this poor, pathetic shell of a mock-up, my apologies. The end-of-semester dreariness has (true to form) inspired me to write little more than cryptic two-liners and fatigue-fueled complaints about the world at large. And you don't come here for that.

So instead of complaining about one more thing (like, say, Caroline Roberts' grating habit of admonishing Bostonist's readership at the end of every one of her posts) let's focus on the positive.

Mixed feelings towards my place of employment aside, I adore almost every product we put out. (The Heinle Picture Dictionary for Children, one of our most recent, is a favorite. Ditto Frames of Mind. It's hard to tell if they're legitimately great books, or if I'm just easily distracted by bright colors, but I'm banking on the former.) I bring this up because I just got EndNote X, and it has profoundly changed my life. I think it's made me kind of excited about academia again. So allow me to fly my dork flag high and sing the praises of citation software.

I finished Convergence Culture and enjoyed it; it's the first truly accessible cultural studies book I've read in a while, and it gives me hope. I've got a lengthy, slightly less accessible reading list ahead of me this summer which I've been facing a small degree of dread but (dork flag) now I'm looking forward it. I'll have to expound on all this in a more aloof manner in my school blog so I'm going to get all the gush out of my system here.

When I feel frantic, Twittervision calms me.

Also, as the new quote in the sidebar probably indicates, Hot Fuzz is going to be excellent.

Whenever I feel the need for serious, life-altering entertainment, it's a difficult choice between The Big Lebowski and Shaun of the Dead.
